España jugará con Italia, Serbia, Alemania, Francia y Croacia

En el A del Europeo hay cuatro grandes equipos como Holanda, Hungría, Rusia y Grecia. Turquía y Portugal completan el grupo. (As)

La selección española femenina de waterpolo jugará en el grupo B, en el campeonato de Europa, junto a Italia, Serbia, Alemania, Francia y Croacia tras el sorteo celebrado este domingo.

Italia, a quien relevó en lo más alto de podio europeo España hace dos años, es el rival más complicado, a priori, de la primera fase, mientras que en el A hay cuatro grandes equipos como Holanda, Hungría, Rusia y Grecia. Turquía y Portugal completan el grupo.

The draw for the 2016 European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia were held Sunday in Belgrade's City Hall. For the first time the European Championships will feature 16 men's and 12 women's teams. Italy's men's team came away with a profitable draw leading group C while in group A Montenegro will have to fear Spain. The highlight came in group B where host team Serbia were drawn with Croatia, completed by France and debuting squad Malta. In group D 2013 world champion Hungary takes on Greece early in a major international tournament once more, with Russia and Turkey as outsiders. After the preliminary round a crossover round will determine the quarterfinalists. Number 1

Just two groups in the women's where in group A Netherlands will take on rivals Hungary, Russia and also Greece, while Portugal and Turkey are expected to take outsiders roles. In group B reigning champion Spain mostly feares Italy while the remaining teams should fight an interesting battle for 3rd place. The full competition schedule is still subject to consideration with regards to a possible request of change of the Serbian team games by the host broadcaster, so is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The draw has been successfully held

Attendees were addressed by the Mayor of Belgrade Mr. Sinisa Mali and the President of the European Aqutics Federation (LEN), Mr. Paolo Barelli. The draw was led by the distinguished representative of LEN Mr. Marco Birri.On Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the City Hall,the draw for the European Water Polo Championships in Belgrade 2016 was held.

This draw determined the schedule by groups in men's and women's competition.

Guests of the draw, world and European champions Andrija Prlainović, Dusko Pijetlovic, Nikola Jaksic and Filip Filipovic and the members of the women's national team of Serbia, Dragana Ivković and Tijana Jakovljević participated in the draw to determine the schedule in which the groups will compete for the men's teams and for the women's teams.

Among the guests were the President of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia, Mr. Milorad Krivokapic, General Secretary Mr. Nemanja Marijan, director of EC Water Polo 2016, Mr. Darko Udovicic, President of the Executive Board of EC Water Polo 2016, Mr. Rasa Ristivojevic. The draw was attended by over a hundred guests.

The European Water Polo Championships Belgrade 2016 will be held from the 10th to the 23rd of January 2016 in the Kombank arena. Belgrade 2016 will be the largest European water polo championships so far, where according to an innovative system of competition a total of 12 women's and 16 men's teams will participate.

04/10/2015 - La Selección española masculina RFEN ha quedado encuadra en el Grupo A del Campeonato de Europa de Belgrado 2016 tras el sorteo realizado este domingo. Los tres rivales de los jugadores de Gabi Hernández en la primera fase serán Holanda, Montenegro y Eslovaquia. Grupo B: Serbia, Croacia, Francia y Malta. Grupo C: Italia, Rumanía, Alemania y Georgia. Grupo D: Hungría, Grecia, Rusia y Turquía.

04/10/2015 - La Selección española femenina RFEN ha quedado encuadra en el Grupo B del Campeonato de Europa de Belgrado 2016 tras el sorteo realizado este domingo. Los cinco rivales de las jugadoras de Miki Oca en la primera fase serán Italia —el rival más complicado—, Serbia, Alemania, Francia y Croacia. Mientras, en el Grupo B, hay cuatro selecciones de gran fuste: Holanda, Hungría, Rusia y Grecia, completando el grupo Turquía y Portugal.
