Waterpolo Euro Cup Final Game 2 | FTC - Oradea FULL VIDEO

Waterpolo Euro Cup Final Game 2 | FTC - Oradea

Ferencváros hosted the LEN Euro Cup final 2nd leg match on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Water polo club from Budapest defeated Oradea by aggregate score 19-13 and won the first trophy after nineteen years. Ferencvaros previously won the Cupwinners Cup in 1998. This is also the first European club trophy for Hungarian team since 2008/2009 when Szeged won the Euro Cup, then called LEN Trophy.
The 2nd leg battle between was only a matter a form because Ferencváros gave an outstanding performance in the 1st leg, on March 22, when they recorded a convincing victory over the Romanian rival, 12-6. Oradea water polo players did make history by advancing to the final, but they were not able to comeback against the opponent who excelled in their third Euro Cup final.
Oradea did not manage to become the first Romanian club to win a European trophy. In addition, their goalkeeper Gojko Pijetlovic failed to grasp another LEN Euro Cup, after he had won it in 2010 with Cattaro squad from Montenegro.
The top scorer of the 2nd leg was Norbert Madaras who netted four goals for Ferencváros. There was only one more player who scored for the winning team – Marko Avramovic, who found the net three times. Among five players who scored for Oradea is Tiberiu Negrean who recorded three goals.
Even if Oradea water polo players were hoping they could make a historic comeback in Budapest, the first quarter proved them wrong. Ferencváros left them scoreless in the first quarter to increase their lead to nine in aggregate. The hosting team later took their foot off the gas, but the deficit was insurmountable for Romanian water polo squad. The match ended in a draw, which was enough for the celebration of Ferencváros water polo players and the fans as well.

Euro Cup, Posillipo campione. Acquachiara battuta 11-10
Posillipo wins Euro Cup

The thrilling Euro Cup finals got a close finish but Posillipo held on to beat Acquachiara 10-11 in leg 2 to take their first Euro Cup on Saturday in front of a packed Felice Scandone pool in Naples. The 'guests' led throughout the match and looked well underway in the final period when Valentino Gallo scored his second giving Posillipo a 3-goal advantage. Things however changed after 2 straight Acquachiara goals as a response setting up a close ending of the series after leg 1 had finished with a 6-6 final score. But Posillipo held on and therewith secured their first Euro Cup and first European success after the 2005 Euro League victory.

EuroCup Quarterfinals leg 2 17/12/14

Posillipo turn things around, eliminate Kazan

As the only team in the quarterfinals Posillipo was able to turn the ty after a defeat in leg 1. The Italians, at home on Wednesday, defeated Sintez Kazan by five goals, 12-7, to overcome a three-goal loss in the teams first meeting. Led by Valentino Gallo who scored four goals Posillipo grabbed control in the second period but it was not until the final term before the advantage was extended to enough for the Italians to advance to the semi-finals. They were joined by Mornar who survived a comeback in Savona. The visiting Croats even got off to a great start leading 0-2 at quarter-time before Savona launched an vicious attack in the second half. However they're 8-4 win just wasn't enough after the 10-5 loss in leg 1. Acquachiara and Steaua Bucharest confirmed their spots in the semis drawing level with their respective opponents in leg 2. Acquachiara started off well in Nice but eventually had to settle for the 10-10 draw while Steaua held control over Waspo 98 Hannover in a close match in Germany to tie 9-9 as final score. It was enough after the two-goal win by Steaua in leg 1.

Euro Cup 1/4 Finals , leg 1 , 2911/14

Kick start for home teams in Euro Cup quarters

A successful day for the home teams in the Euro Cup quarterfinals on Saturday. All first legs were won by the teams playing in front of their fans with Acquachiara highlighting their performance with a comfortable six-goal win over Olympic Nice who were held scoreless in the entire first half in Naples. The duo of centre-forward Fran Paskvalin and Stefano Luongo (pictured) combined for six goals in the win as the Italians looked to have decided the series in their favour already en route to equaling last year's performance when Acquachiara reached the semis but were eliminate there. Another team close to making it to the final four are Mornar who also held their opponent from scoring in the first two periods. Savona were hoping for good chances but instead fell to the Croatian side 10-5 and are now up for a daunting task of making up in the second leg at home in two weeks time. Sintez Kazan also did well by beating Posillipo at home 9-6 to enjoy a 3-goal advantage for the return match in Italy. The Russians needed a strong finish to do after Posillipo had made a comeback in the third period as the game went into its final phase with a levelled 5-5 score. A 4-1 run in the last eight minutes however secured the important win for Kazan. Also amongst the winners of leg 1 were Steaua Bucharest who kicked off the day of quarterfinal action by topping German opponents Waspo Hannover 9-7 at home in Romania. A hard-fought win was reached after the Germans had taken control in the opening period leading 1-3. The response by Steaua however was a good one as they managed to turn things around in the remainder and secured an important two-goal advantage, which could prove vital in an expected tough match-up in leg 2 in Germany.

The Euro Cup quarterfinals draw, held on Tuesday at the LEN Office, unveiled some interesting match-ups as the qualification round group winners were paired with teams ranked 2nd in one of the other groups. The only team able to complete a perfect record in the previous round, Croatian side Mornar from Split, will play Italian two-time (then) LEN Trophy winners Savona (pictured). Second of the three Italian participants, Posillipo, also face a tough opponent in Sintez Kazan who topped group A in round 2. Posillipo finished 2nd in their group C only to be tied with French side Olympic Nice in points but falling in the goal difference comparison. The French will visit Naples in leg 1 on 29 November as they were paired with Acquachiara, the third Italian representative and holder of the impressive top scorer of the tournament so far, Antonio Petkovic. Finally group D winners and Champions League qualification round 2 participants Waspo 98 Hannover will start their quarterfinals match-up in Romania where Steaua Bucharest awaits.
