LEN suspends Niksa Dobud

An alleged punch in the third quarter of the Champions League preliminary round day 2 match-up against Partizan's Marko Manojlovic (pictured), played Wednesday 17 December, will cost Jug centre-forward Niksa Dobud a three-match suspension, his club announced Monday. In addition Jug will have to play the three upcoming matches in the preliminary phase of Europe's top-tier competition with a 12-man roster since Dobud's absent spot will not be eligible for replacement, Jug learned from a letter by LEN. Dobud was sent away after the punch without substitution while 18-year old Manojlovic was forced to leave the water for treatment and did not return. Despite the man-down for the next four minutes, Jug held on to win 3-5. The Croatian powerhouse will meet Galatasaray (14-01), Szolnok (28-01) and Primorje (11-02) as next opponents in the upcoming three matches in group B. Both Jug and Szolnok lead the group with 6 points after 2 matches.
