Spartak Volgograd are this year's winners of the LEN Euro Cup. After a dominant six-goal victory over Mladost Zagreb in leg 1 at home in Russia, the national champions held on in the teams second meeting in Croatia's capital on Wednesday losing by four goals: 9-5. It still was enough to secure an historic first-ever European title. The win for Mladost mostly came in the final period which saw Spartak, trailing just 5-4 going into the final phase, conceding four goals while scoring one. A huge upset however remained out of reach for Croatia's number three who had to settle for the runners-up position.
