The second day of play in the group stage of the Champions League started in Romania where home side CSM Digi Oradea lost to the Hungarian cup title-holders of Szeged 9-14; already the second win in two games for the Hungarians in group D. Centre-forward Tamas Molnar was the big men on offence scoring three goals. In the other game of that group Serbian champs Partizan Belgrade followed the group leaders well beating German national champions Spandau 10-13 in Germany. Meanwhile in group A, Spartak Volgograd took their first three points of this year's campaign beating Hungarian national runners-up ZF-Eger 10-7. Greek runner-up Vouliagmeni rolled to a second clear win beating Waspo '98 Hannover 4-18. The Dutch champions Schuurman BZC got their second straight win as well. In the city of Nijverdal, a 13-10 victory was gained against the Georigan squad of Ligamus Tbilisi. In group B Red Star Belgrade cruised to an easy 26-7 win over Swiss side SC Kreuzlingen, one of the teams that got into the prelims through the qualification round. Nenad Stojic and Boris Vapenski scored five goals each for the Serbian squad. Spanish champs Barceloneta travelled to Serbia for the matchup with Vojvodina Novi Sad and returned victorious beating the home team 4-9 to now lead group C with six points out of two matches. In that same group French runners-up Marseille surprised beating Italian national Cup winners Brescia 9-7 behind three goals from young Canadian centre-forward Nicolas Costantin-Bicari.
