Canada and Australia will play for the 2015 World University Games women's gold medal. On Saturday favourites Canada extended their unbeaten run in Gwangju by beating Italy 7-5 in the semifinals while Australia made it to their first gold medal final turning around a 4-1 deficit to Russia at quarter-time into an eventual 7-10 victory. Also on Saturday the men's quarterfinals were contested. Here the first one was the closest as Russia and Italy needed penalties to decide a winner. The shootout series was a nail-biter with Russia falling short in the first attempt of the sudden-death phase.
