Apostolos (Lakis) Tsantas the emblematic strain of Greek and International Family of Water Polo Referees left us today.
Lakis was born in Nikea (Piraeus), married with Lamprini had two children, Paulina and Constantine.
Lakis was the historic member of the Association of Greek water polo referees. He held the presidency for many years of the Central Committee of Referees in Greek Swimming Federation until now. He was for 3 quadrennials President of AIA (International Association of Water Polo Referees). and in addition was elected member of Technical Water Polo Committee (TWPC) of LEN, an election that put him at the top of the Water Polo governing bodies of arbitration in the European area.
Lakis served for many years (from 1970 to 1991) International Water Polo Referee, with too many appointments in top events in the global scene. Some of the holdings are:

- Has been awarded by many Unions, Federations, Greek Journalist Association in 1978 and also has been awarded by FINA in 2007 the Certificate of Merit.

- He has participated as a professor in several Referees Schools in Greece and also in 4 Schools in South Africa 1976, Egypt in 1981 and in two schools in Denmark 1986.

- It has been designated by the LEN as Delegate in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
From 1991 to until today was Delegate in waterpolo games in all Greek Championships and in addition he was responsible for the appointments of Greek Referees and Delegates in Greek championships.

The loss of Lakis Tsantas is a big blow to his family, to his own people but also for all partners in the field of aquatics.
