Italy and the Netherlands to host Rio 2016 qualification tournaments

Following the FINA Water Polo Conference in Cancun, Mexico on 27-28 February the FINA Bureau held a meeting on 1 and 2 March in which multiple hosting cities for future FINA water polo events were determined. The major one was the announcement of both 2016 Olympic Games qualification tournaments being awarded to Florence, Italy, for the men and the Netherlands, city to be confirmed later this month, for the women. Furthermore the women's 2015 World Junior (U20) Championships will be played in Guadalajara, Mexico, indeed the hosting city of the 2017 World Championships with the men's tournament hosting city to be announced. And for both 2016 U18 World Youth Championships it was to be learned that the boys tournament will be held in Budva, Montenegro while the girls travel to Auckland, New Zealand.

- FINA Men’s Water Polo World League Super Final 2015: Bergamo or Roma (ITA)
- FINA World Women’s Junior Water Polo Championships (20 & U) 2015: Guadalajara (MEX)
- FINA World Men’s Youth Water Polo Championships (18 & U) 2016: Budva (MNE)
- FINA World Women’s Youth Water Polo Championships (18 & U) 2016: Auckland (NZL)
- OG Men’s Water Polo Qualification Tournament 2016: Florence (ITA)
- OG Women’s Water Polo Qualification Tournament 2016: Netherlands (city to confirm)
